A Journey of Faith & Service
From Sri Lanka to Canada, Pastor Alfred’s life is a testimony of God’s calling and grace.
The Journey of Pastor S. Alfred Cherubim
Pastor S. Alfred Cherubim, born into a Tamil family in Sri Lanka, has lived a life marked by resilience, leadership, and unwavering faith. He began his service as an Agricultural Officer in the Sri Lankan Government and later became the Pioneer Director of the YMCA Youth Training Centre, eventually serving as Associate National General Secretary of the National Council of the YMCAs of Sri Lanka.
When civil unrest struck Sri Lanka in 1983, Pastor Alfred and his family moved to India, where his ministry expanded. He faithfully served the YMCA in Hyderabad and later in New Delhi, guiding communities and sharing the Gospel.
Returning to Sri Lanka in 1990, he founded COME HOME, an orphanage that welcomed 53 children, offering them love, care, and education for more than a decade.
Since 2001, Pastor Alfred has made Canada his home, where he established Redeemer Christ Assembly and continues to serve as its Senior Pastor. His ministry extends beyond the pulpit through the many Christian books he has authored in English and Tamil, each one a reflection of his testimony that Christ is the answer.
“Through every hardship and triumph, my testimony remains this: true hope is found only in Christ.”
